I used to be at quite a big branded gym in town and I was attending the same gym class every week and I would never go to the gym floor. I was honestly terrified to do a work out by myself and I wasn't really seeing much improvement in my mental and physical health and I was definitely by the end of my membership there re feeling more like a number on there like membership role than I was a person, I really felt like it was time for come natural change. So I started looking for a new gym and I found OPEX and the things I wanted for my new gym were a sense of personality and also community and that is definitely what I found at OPEX. Everyone is so welcoming, there is definitely a community vibe and that for me was one of the most important things.
The main difference for me between OPEX and other gyms I have been to before is that the coaches Kris and Glen, they really care about you. They really care about your day and they really care that you are having a good session at the gym. I also love that my phone app that my workout comes to is completely personal to me and it evolves based upon my feedback from the previous sessions. And also I love the monthly consultations I have with Chris and it really sets it apart from anywhere else I’ve been too. In those sessions I've really been focusing and challenging myself to think about my lifestyle, my work stress and the things I'm fuelling my body with and it's just helping me work towards a healthier and more around happier version of myself.
I have only been a member of OPEX Gatwick for a really short two months. However, I have seen such a huge increase in my energy levels. I used to have that kind of half-past five slump and I'd be so tired and come home from work, sit on the sofa and just kind of have a moment to myself but that has definitely changed! I'm feeling so much more motivated to get to the gym and my energy has been so much more consistent throughout the day and that's definitely thanks to that dietary support that I have had from Kris and Glen. Although I'm not seeing huge and dramatic physical changes each month they have the in body scanner and it shows that I'm already increasing my muscle mass and that to me is so motivating to see that start increasing, you know each week in each month and it really motivates me to get back into the gym and keep up the hard work.
I joined OPEX Gatwick because I wanted somewhere that was going to help me achieve the goals that I have left to achieve and to receive structured coaching and I felt this was quite adequate for my needs.
For me the main difference is that every session it's structured for me. I know what I'm doing an when I walk into the gym I have my program set out for me and I can just get on with it!
I feel that the exercises I've been doing have helped me and I can see better definition in my body. I love the fact that the gym is small and there is never a fight for equipment, the programs are structured to your capabilities, so I'd have no problems recommending OPEX to someone new, looking for something different.
I've been a member of OPEX since it started and my reason for joining was to keep fit and to stay fit and so far that's been what's happening! I'm 64 years of age and staying alive as long as possible IS a big driver for me, but I also want to stay healthy, flexible and ABLE to use my body as much as I can. I particularly like the OPEX philosophy around maintaining and sustaining flexible movement. The workouts in my regime's are superb for that. I continue to be delighted by my experience at OPEX and the progress which I am making.
For me, I think the most positive feature of membership at OPEX Gatwick is the tightly detailed personal development program, which I've been given which resonates strongly with my own Developmental and fitness goals, but is also attuned to my current level of ability. That's fairly different. It feels like the program I have has been devised for me personally, and I appreciate that.
And it's been working, which is very satisfying. One of the things that's different is for me and previous gems. That was always very easy to get carried away with the excitement of what was going on and I think I had a history of tending to overwork. Well, as I said earlier, I've been a member of OPEX since it started and I haven't had a single injury since I started in training. That's I think down to the focus of the program I have been given which is outstanding but is also due to the excellence of the floor coaching. There's a coach on hand who actually literally keeps an eye on everyone and gives input as and when it's appropriate. The other thing I really like about OPEX is that the coaches are absolutely determined that when I work my technique will be as good as possible so much so that I've come to believe that's one of the big reasons why I'm progressing so well, and why I'm not injuring myself anymore either.
Since joining OPEX, my fitness has improved immeasurably. I'm actually more capable of doing things which I simply wasn't before I joined OPEX. Whether that's lifting weights, which I have never achieved before or performing for longer in terms of endurance. Every single metric measure has improved and that gives instils in me a great sense of satisfaction. I also have a stronger body. My posture is better. I'm sleeping better and I'm enjoying life more. All of this contributes to a greatly enhanced sense of self-worth and self-esteem and in one short sentence I simply cannot recommend OPEX highly enough. Thank you guys.
I signed up to OPEX Gatwick for a sense of community around a common purpose for the enjoyment of fitness and bettering ourselves. And I feel I got that here almost like a second family!
What I think that makes OPEX Gatwick unique is the listen first mentality to understand you as an individual, what enjoyment you find in exercise and really where you get that personalized touch of what do we need to do to grow? What do we need to rebuild, but also still maintaining the why am I enjoying Fitness? And how do we incorporate that into what is occasionally hard work to rebuild to where you need to be?
Well being OPEX I think I found a new group of friends, a new group new community to work out with. I've lost around 20 kilos, I've got stronger, fitter. I haven't been injured in a long time and my nutritional habits have changed and I feel it's my overall lifestyle and enjoyment in life has definitely improved with this customized program and general support.
So the biggest reason I had for joining OPEX Gatwick was so I can continue my progression for being able to maintain my fitness, being able to keep my body moving well to build up strength and just basically keep doing what I enjoy doing. I love training, I love exercising and really now that was the main reason for me joining is just being able to keep on my journey in my training and fitness.
The main difference is OPEX Gatwick compared to other gyms I've been a member of before have been twofold really. That is personalization. So the training is specific to me. I have a coach I get to discuss what my goals, my aims and objectives are for my training and the physical side of the gym commitment and that's been really really beneficial for me in terms of how I progressed on the things that I’m good at but especially the things that I'm not as good at and really sort of addressing and looking at those aspects of my physical well-being that I want to improve.
Secondly, it's not just about sort of the physicality in that sort of physical expression inside the gym which is maybe what a lot of other gyms really focus on in doing various sorts of physical movements and workouts Etc. But it's also the focus on my general well-being. So how I live my life in terms of my well-being and my fitness outside of the gym. So the amount of sleep I get, to the kind of nutrition that I'm getting every day, how I cope with the stresses of work and so forth. So it's way more than just a gym to go and sort of work out and lift iron and get a sweat on it's really about the benefit that it brings to me as a person and how I can live my life as well as a can.
I've got so much out of being a member of OPEX Gatwick I’m stronger and fitter than I was before. I know how my body functions and how I move and the idiosyncratic ways in which the little bits and pieces of how physical movement affects me and how we can better manage myself and that's been massive in understanding how I can train consistently. One of the more recent benefits of had is I have finally embraced the Mantra that you can't out train a bad diet!
It doesn't matter how good the training program is for me to really progress, I've really embraced nutrition and within a good sort of progressive way in that I haven't tried to make too many changes in one go. I've done it over a very steady period of time over the last year and a half and I've ended up losing the best part of 15 kilos in weight. That has also been mainly in body fat while not losing muscle and that's been absolutely massive for me in terms of being able to progress in how I sort of perform in the gym and and made so many things easier in how sort of them daily life.
So many things are way more straightforward now than they have been before so it's been huge so really that personalization of allowing me to really benefit from all the things that my body is actually capable of doing but also at the same time being able to alter my body composition. The support is just fantastic and I never really achieved that anywhere else and so I would probably say that after sort of five six seven years of sort of functional fitness, I'm the fittest I have ever ever been.
